Carolyn Coleman, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, MHP

Carolyn Coleman served as President of the MS Association of Nurse Practitioners from 2022-2024. She is currently serving as a Board Director for Central MS. We are excited to congratulate Carolyn for her work with Empower as a part of her advocacy and dedication to the nurse practitioner profession to remove barriers to improving patient access to nurse practitioner-provided care.
 

  

 

 Kent Hawkins, MSN, FNP-C

 In recognition of his contribution as an advocate on behalf of nurse practitioners (NPs) and their patients, Kent, is being honored by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) as the 2024 recipient of the AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence for MS. Kent is a Board Director for MS Association of Nurse Practitioners (MANP) and is a family nurse practitioner at Highland Hills Medical Center in Senatobia, MS. Kent is also the Area 1 Leader for MANP and networks with Pharma representatives to host educational programs in north MS.

 
James Hawley, DNP, NP-C
Receives 2024 AANP NP State Award for Excellence in MS -The AANP State Award for Excellence was established in 1993 and is given to an NP in each state who demonstrates excellence in clinical care. Awards are distributed to the recipients throughout the year, with recipients honored during the annual AANP national conference. James started his medical career as a combat medic at the age of 19 and now 20 years later, serves as a rural health nurse practitioner at the Field Health Systems. James is also MANP Area 10 Leader for MANP and networks with Pharma representatives to host educational programs in southwest MS.

 

 Christy Davis, DNP, FNP-C, CSOWM, CBN

Receives 2023 AANP NP State Award for Excellence in MS -The AANP State Award for Excellence was established in 1993 and is given to an NP in each state who demonstrates excellence in clinical care. Awards are distributed to the recipients throughout the year, with recipients honored during the annual AANP national conference. Join MS Association of Nurse Practitioners in congratulating Christy Davis from Brandon who works with Metabolic Medicine of Mississippi and is a very active MANP member for being the recipient of the 2023 AANP State Award for Excellence, NP in Practice!  Christy is very passionate about the care she provides to her patients. She is also passionate about educating other nurse practitioners regarding chronic metabolic issues, especially obesity management.  Thank you, Christy, for all you do to improve the healthcare of Mississippians. We are very proud to have you in our organization. Well deserved.

 Tina Highfill, DNP, FNP-BC, CCM, LNC

Receives 2023 AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence in MS-  In recognition of her contribution as an advocate on behalf of nurse practitioners (NPs) and their patients, Dr. Tina Highfill, is being honored by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) as the 2023 recipient of the AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence in MS. Each year, advocates across the nation are nominated by AANP members to receive this prestigious award. Dr. Highfill is the Executive Director for the MS Association of Nurse Practitioners. The AANP State Award for Excellence was established in 1993 and is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing the awareness and recognition of NPs. Awards are distributed to the recipients throughout the year, with recipients honored during the annual AANP national conference. AANP is the largest professional association for NPs of all specialties, with more than 121,000 members and headquarters in Texas and Washington, D.C.

Mary Williams, DNP, FNP, BC

Dr. Mary Williams received recognition and commendation of the Mississippi Senate by Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann, Jr and Senator Robert Jackson on 01/20/2022. Dr. Williams, a MANP member, is a respected NP and owner of Urgent & Primary Care of Clarksdale established in 2018. She has over three decades of nursing experience. Dr. Williams was recognized for her outstanding and dedicated service to her community and to her state during the COVID pandemic.

 

Dr. Wanda Stroupe, DNP, FNP-BC

In recognition of her contribution as an advocate on behalf of nurse practitioners (NPs) and their patients, MANP Board Director, Dr. Wanda Stroupe, DNP, FNP-BC,  of Ripley is being honored by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) as the 2021 recipient of the AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence in MS. for being awarded the 2021 AANP Award for Excellence Recipient (Advocate). Each year, advocates across the nation are nominated by AANP members to receive this prestigious award.  The AANP State Award for Excellence was established in 1993 and is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing the awareness and recognition of NPs. Awards are distributed to the recipients throughout the year, with recipients honored during the annual AANP national conference. We are so proud of you and appreciate your work toward advocacy for Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Stroupe is also a  2022 Rise Award recipient presented by Empower Mississippi. Dr. Stroupe was among the state's top leaders for recognition along with Gov. Tate Reeves, Speaker Philip Gunn, Sen. Josh Harkins, Sen. Briggs Hopson, Speaker Pro Tem Jason White, and Rep. Trey Lamar. 

Stephanie Gale, FNP-BC

 Robert Ware, DNP, MHA, CEN, ACNPC-AG, FNP-BC

Receives 2020 AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence in MS- MANP member, Robert Ware, has served in previous leadership positions on the Board as president, vice-president, treasurer, and currently the Chair of  Education & Accreditation.   In recognition of his contribution as an advocate on behalf of nurse practitioners (NPs) and their patients, Dr. Robert Ware, is being honored by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) as the 2020 recipient of the AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence in MS.
