MS Association of Nurse Practitioners partners with the Mississippi Health Alert Network (MS-HAN) to share this important information with our Nurse Practitioners.
Dr. Renia Dotson, MD, FACS, MPH, MBA, with the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has issued a notice to inform healthcare providers and clinical laboratories that, due to an ongoing multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis, cyclosporiasis (Cyclospora cayetanensis infection) has been temporarily designated as a Class 1B Reportable Disease, effective immediately.
As a Class 1B reportable disease, suspected or confirmed cases must be reported directly to the MSDH by telephone within one business day after first knowledge or suspicion, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Governing Reportable Diseases and Conditions.
