MSDH UPDATE 

MS Association of Nurse Practitioners partners with the Mississippi Health Alert Network (MS-HAN) to share this important information with our Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Renia Dotson, MD, FACS, MPH, MBA, with the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has issued a notice to inform healthcare providers and clinical laboratories that, due to an ongoing multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis, cyclosporiasis (Cyclospora cayetanensis infection) has been temporarily designated as a Class 1B Reportable Disease, effective immediately.

As a Class 1B reportable disease, suspected or confirmed cases must be reported directly to the MSDH by telephone within one business day after first knowledge or suspicion, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Governing Reportable Diseases and Conditions.

New MS Medicaid Rule is effective Jan 1, 2025. 

Administrative Code 24-021 was filed and finalized to the Medicaid Provider Enrollment to update the time period from three (3) years to one (1) year before a provider is disenrolled for not filing any claims and add language clarifying the enrollment of out-of-state providers based on medical advice.

Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule

On November 1, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a rule finalizing changes for Medicare payments under the PFS and other Medicare Part B policies, effective on or after January 1, 2025.

The CY 2025 PFS final rule is one of several final rules that reflect a broader Administration-wide strategy to create a more equitable health care system that results in better accessibility, quality, affordability, empowerment, and innovation for all Medicare beneficiaries.
